Qatar Insider: Katara Cultural Village

Located on the northern side of Doha, Katara Cultural Village is a hub of cultural experiences, events and activities all year long. As evident from its name, it is also the embodies local culture, be it from its architecture, the events it hosts, or the services it offers. Thanks to its various symposiums, exhibitions, concerts and workshops, Katara Cultural Village is the largest and the most multidimensional cultural project in Qatar.

What does Katara mean?
The name is derived from Catara, which is the ancient name of Qatar, and it was chosen to revive Qatar’s old name and showcase its heritage and history.

What does it include?
Katara, as it is most often called, includes different areas and sectors, all giving visitors a chance to experience something new.

These include, an amphitheater, opera house, a cinema, a conference hall, beach, and a souq, including other areas as well. Katara is also home to a number of different restaurants and cafes, which offer different experiences and cuisines.

Activities:

There are a number of different activities that take place in Katara continuously, and these include art workshops, film screenings, children activities and much more. There is always something going on at the cultural village, which is one of the many reasons that it is well liked.

Hub for Social Events:

Katara is also known for always putting on events that are celebrated nation-wide. This includes Sports Day, Eid Activities and National Day, among others, which also include very popular firework shows as well.
